Congratulations to Tim Porter.
Tim Porter of Clúid Housing Association has been chosen to sit on the Housing Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) of Cork County Council from 2010 onwards. This will be an exciting opportunity to influence housing policy in the County. It should also help cement the relationship between Cork Social Housing Forum & Cork County Council.
Clúid Housing Association has been a member of Cork Social Housing Forum since the Forum was established in 2002.
Clúid Housing Association is a dedicated housing organisation which, through the provision of housing, aims to facilitate the creation of homes and communities where people want to live and settle. Clúid is an Irish word meaning ‘the seat beside the fire’; the corner seat that was vacated for the guest, or reserved for the venerable elderly member of the family. The concept expressed here of neighbourliness and home is central to Clúid’s work. For more information on Clúid Housing Association visit www.cluid.ie
Strategic Policy Committees have their origins in Government policy, Better Local Government – A Programme for Change which was launched in December, 1996. The role of SPC’s is to advise and assist Local Authorities in their work. It is intended that the SPC system will give Councillors and sectoral interests an opportunity to be fully involved in the policy making process from an early stage.
